Neko Case
|
I'm going to the Neko show at the Norva in Norfolk! It's my first Neko show, and I'm really excited.
Just thought I'd share. Anyone else going? |

I saw her at the Greek Theater in L.A. in June. The show was lovely, a bit more mellow than I would have expected, and I was hoping for more old favorites. But she was still terrific nonetheless. I've seen her live several times and she never fails to put more than her all into every performance.
I have a wishlist of songs I'd like to hear live, but I'm not going to allow myself to be disappointed if they don't make the cut. I'm just happy to have a chance to see her live finally. I'm not sure I like the opening act, though. The Norva's website said "special guest" for months, and now that has been replaced with Imaad Wasif. I looked him up.. and I don't think I like him. :/
Yeah, I'm not too impressed with her opening acts on this tour. We had the lead singer of Grandaddy, doing his solo stuff. It was bearable, but not great. I got into Neko after seeing her open for Nick Cave years ago, so I guess I expect her to have some great opening acts on her tour. About a year after that, I saw her open for Calexico, but every other time I've seen her play, she's never had an opening act.
I just saw her back in June for the first time, in Portland. 'Twas awesome. Fair warning: don't bring a camera, you won't be allowed to take it in the venue (Neko's policy). I learned that the hard way.
I wouldn't bring a camera. It irritates me when I see cameras flashing at shows. Does this mean, however, that cell phones won't be allowed in as most phones can take pictures and record videos?
They didn't say anything about cell phones, just regular cameras. I have a camera phone but I was able to take mine in. I didn't take any pictures, though. | |
